In 2022, Akara Design Studio completed the interior design for a luxurious new-build coastal apartment in Umdloti, Durban, developed by FWJK. This modern beach apartment, with stunning ocean views, featured a scope that included finishes & fixtures, furniture, décor, rugs, scatters, and accessories.

The project involved designing cabinetry with EGGER finishes, creating feature walls with large format Infinity slabs, and selecting fittings, fixtures, and decorative lighting. Akara handled the complete interior design, procurement, project management, and installation, incorporating both custom and store-bought items.

Custom artwork from local artists, bespoke mirrors, and fully automated systems elevated the apartment’s design. The spaces transformed included the entrance, guest loo, three bedrooms, a walk-in dresser, vanity area, balcony, lounge, dining area, and kitchen. The overall theme embodied a luxurious, open-plan living style, perfect for a holiday retreat.
